How to Reach the Unreached: A Call to Action for Christians

Did you know that over 40% of the world's people groups have no indigenous community of believing Christians able to evangelize the rest of their people group¹? That means over 3.3 billion people live in unreached people groups with little or no access to the gospel of Jesus Christ². These are people who have never heard the name of Jesus, never seen a Bible, never met a Christian. They are living in spiritual darkness, without hope and without God.

But God loves them and wants them to be saved. He has given us, His church, a great commission: to make disciples of all nations (Matthew 28:19). How can we obey this command and reach the unreached with the good news of God's grace?

Here are some practical steps we can take as followers of Christ:

- Pray. Prayer is our most powerful weapon in spiritual warfare. We can pray for God to open doors for His gospel to enter these unreached areas, for His Spirit to convict hearts and draw people to Himself, for His protection and guidance for missionaries and local believers who are working among these people groups, and for His glory to be revealed among all nations.

- Give. Many unreached people groups live in poverty³, lack education⁴, face persecution⁵, and suffer from various physical and social needs. We can give generously and sacrificially to support ministries that are reaching out to them with both physical and spiritual help. We can also sponsor a child, adopt a people group, or partner with an organization that is working among these people groups.

- Go. The most effective way to reach the unreached is by sending workers who can live among them, learn their language and culture, build relationships with them, share the gospel with them, disciple them, plant churches among them, and train leaders who can multiply their efforts. We can go ourselves or support those who go by praying for them, encouraging them, sending them letters and packages, visiting them on short-term trips, etc.

We have a great responsibility and privilege as Christians to reach the unreached with the gospel. Let us not be indifferent or complacent about this urgent task. Let us not be satisfied with our own comfort or security while millions are perishing without Christ. Let us not be disobedient or fearful when God calls us to go or give or pray.

Let us be faithful stewards of God's grace and ambassadors of His kingdom. Let us be passionate about His glory among all nations. Let us be obedient to His great commission until every tribe and tongue and people and nation hears and worships Him.
